Jabra SP200 Bluetooth Speakerphone Car Kit Reviews
Review by S. W. Cantrell:
"The best gift you ever got me" was what my Dad said after he had this for about a week or so. He's in his 70's and wanted to be able to use the cell in the car safely. This thing is simple, cheap and effective. There is really nothing else to say! One caveat, it only pairs with a single phone.
Review by D. Bennett:
I'm hard of hearing and I drive a noisy old diesel pickup. I tried all sorts of hands free like wireless and wired headsets and all had the same problem I couldn't hear my calls.
The Jabra solved this problem so simply. I only need hands free for driving so it comes with a car charger, no need to charge it in the house and forget it when you leave like so many other hands free blue tooth. Easy to attach, easy 1 big button call functon on off switch and volume control.

Motorola MOTOROKR T505 Bluetooth Speakerphone Reviews
Review by RJ:
I bought a total of 5 (yes five) different Bluetooth speakerphones to test on my car visor and operate with my Sprint HTC Touch phone. Each unit has flaws and two are unusable in my opinion when used with the Sprint Touch. Your results may differ.
Here are the units I tested:
The Jabra SP5050, Parrot Minikit, BlueAnt Supertooth Light, BlueAnt Supertooth II and Motorola T505. I chose these units based on the positive user reviews on the Amazon site.
Now how they perform when paired with my Sprint HTC Touch...
BlueAnt Supertooth Light - Works good with few complaints. Connects automatically every time. Has mini USB for charging which is exactly the same as my phone. OK speaker volume (but the volume may cause an echo on the other end). I like how turning the unit on or off is accomplished by pushing the mic in/out. Magnetic clip is nice.
BlueAnt Supertooth II - Works good but doesn't usually connect automatically with the Touch. I need to push the talk/end button to connect. Best speaker volume (you can turn the volume too high which may cause an echo on the other end). This unit can be used with the visor up or down since the mic can swing totally open. Aesthetics might not appeal to some. I really like how turning the unit on or off is accomplished by swinging the mic in or out. Magnetic clip is nice.
Jabra SP5050 - Maybe the best aesthetics with very slim size. Easy to understand if it's on and connected with the alert tones. Very light unit and did I say how slim it is?
Terrible low volume with my Sprint Touch! The volume is unusable for highway speed driving and is a deal killer compared to the other units. This cannot be corrected using the volume on my phone as it's at max too! I was so hopeful for this unit.
Parrot Minikit - Works great sometimes. Has great speaker volume. Sometimes cannot get it to connect and sometimes locks up. I believe this is an issue with the Minikit and the Touch combination as I also tested a Parrot LS3200 color built in unit with the exact same terrible results. Unusable!
Motorola T505 - Nice aesthetics. Connects automatically every time. Has mini USB power connector exactly the same as my phone. Very good speaker volume and I love the option of using the FM transmitter with my car stereo for even better sound and volume. No complaints from people on the other end and they never heard an echo like the BlueAnt. I haven't tried using the music player but that isn't why I bought it. I prefer the Supertooth II on/off mic switch over the Motorola back of the unit location. This is by far the best unit for use with my Sprint Touch and the one I'll keep using. Works fantastic!
Now I'm giving away the other units to friends.
Review by Ronald Epstein:
I recently bought a 2008 Cadillac CTS. It is the best car I have driven to date, but the biggest problem it has is that all vehicles manufactured prior to April 2008 have no bluetooth. This is the first car I have owned without bluetooth installed since the technology first became available. Since I run a business and constantly use the phone in my car, I scrambled to find the perfect device.
Right now the two most popular BT devices are the Blueant Supertooth Light and the Motorola T505. It was a tough choice which way to go but I chose the Motorola because it had FM transmitting capability.
The one thing that is misleading about the pictures depicted of this device on Amazon is its size. I was amazed to see just how small the T505 is. It comes with a very strong clip that secures itself on the visor, and it easily slides on and off whenever you need to remove the T505 for charging purposes.
The included car charger is worthless for most because who wants that cord dangling from the visor? What is visibly absent here is a wall charger. I can't really get upset about this as it does have a USB socket that allows you to plug your device in your computer's USB port for charging.
Pairing was easy. Hold the Power button down for a few seconds (you may have to press PLAY as well) and the T505 goes into pairing mode. My iPhone immediately recognized the device and once you type in 0000 you are instantly paired. No need to pair the phone each time you enter the vehicle.
For best results make sure the bluetooth volume is all the way up on your phone. This will provide the loudest results from the built-in T505 speakerphone.
My first call came today while I was driving. A british voice announced the incoming phone number. I simply pressed the front PLAY button and the call was connected. Speakerphone was crisp and loud. It was pretty incredible as far as the overall voice quality. People sitting in the back seat would have no problem hearing or joining in the conversation. The caller said I sounded great on his end and would never have guessed that I was talking on a speakerphone.
Press the FM locator button on the back of the unit and a British voice will announce a vacant FM channel that is available for you to tune and have your call directed to. Directing the call to FM produced a rather good quality call though slightly fuzzy.
I would not hesitate to recommend this device to anyone looking for the most ideal bluetooth solution for their vehicle. For portable hands-free bluetooth, this is about as good as it gets.

BlueAnt Supertooth 3 Bluetooth Speakerphone (Black) Reviews
Review by J. Blackmun:
I have been selling wireless since 1996 and have used multiple headsets, hands free solutions, etc. This has the best voice quality of any in-car set up I have used. I was using a Jawbone, which I still have, and is excellent. I am just tired of having something hanging on my ear X hours a day. I am a gadget freak for sure but I am tired of the tool on my ear.
I made some calls at 80mph in my wife's minivan on the turnpike to friends to get their feedback before using it for business and they did no know I was on a speakerphone...that's good enough for me. The voicedialing, as with any voicedialing feature, sucks. They all suck. The voice answer did not work either - say 'ok' to answer...yeah my kids were laughing at me saying 'ok' 6 times and then the call went to voicemail because it never answered. But I expected that...so just reach up and tap the answer button...no worries. My concern was voice quality, and it passed the test.
The auto phonebook transfer to a blackberry will not work from the device but will work if you do it from your BBerry's blutooth menu and push it to the device. It took about 10 minutes for my 1500+ contacts to transfer. I only did that so I could hear the name of the inbound caller, which is cool. The reality is we all have our phones right next to us when the call comes in and we can look at the phone's screen if need be.
01/09 UPDATE: I got a new car and well...I have to turn this off for business calls. It's just not good enough. What changed? Well, just my car. There is nothing worn with the device. So maybe the cars insulation is coming into play? I am driving a C6 Corvette and I am certain it is not as insulated as my previous car (Audi TT) or my wife's minivan. That being said, if your car is well insulated from road noise you should love this device. Cheers, Josh.
Review by Canyonroom:
Being a fan of the supertooth 2, I got the supertooth 3 for the text to speech feature which is supposed to announce the caller's name based on your address book. Problem is that I could never get it to say the caller's name, instead it will only say the number. I'm using it with a blackberry 8830 and have also tried it with a Mot Krzr with the same results. Contacted the company over the phone who's support is great but they couldn't get it to say the caller's name either and suggested the I send it back. Not good for a new product.
I'm sending it back and we'll see what happens with the next one.
----------------------------------------------
Update 6-13-08:
We still can't get the ST3 to announce the callers name either. We are on our third one after returning two of them. In our company we have BB8830's and Pearls. Tried on both with no luck, only phone numbers are announced. Also tried on two Mot KRZR's also with no luck either. Called vendor three times now and they had me do the batt thing also. They finally said that our vendor may have had a "bad batch". This one is really hard to believe. I called our vendor who is not happy that this "may be the case". I'm now waiting for blueant to send me an envelope to send the unit back and to then send me one directly from the factory.
I'm not holding my breath on this. Guess it's like software... never by version 1.0 of anything. For a few weeks, there was nothing out there (internet search) that pointed to this problem but now it's everywhere.
Aside from that, the unit performs as good as the Supertooth Light verison.
------------------
7-3-08: Still haven't received the product return package from the manufacturer. We are still getting the Supertooth 3 device for clients though because the other "advertised" features do work and work well and so far is the most "hands free".

BlackBerry VM605 Visor Mount Bluetooth Speakerphone Reviews
Review by Tarun Chachra:
Yes, I am a Blackberry Fan Boy and thus I trust pretty much everything they make..the exception being the STORM.
Research in Motion recently released this device and I figured it was time to get one and give it a shot. I was finally getting fed-up of something stuck in my ear all of the time so I could talk while on the road. I live in the Tri-State area, NY-NJ-CT and drive about 4 hours a day, therefore making Bluetooth a necessity.
And now for the review:
Box Includes: Visor Clip, Car Charger (Micro USB), and documentation in English, Spanish, and French.
**Quick Note: This device also utilizes Micro-USB as do most new smart phones in the market today. It is the new standard for cell phone chargers and thus will eliminate a lot of redundant chargers in our homes, offices, and cars.
Simply charge the device over night so that it is good and ready to go for your usage. Once charged, turn it on and pair it with your blackberry device...the instructions are quite simple. The pairing process complete, you are ready to clip this in your cars visor and begin the process of becoming a road warrior.
The Visor Mount actually gives you a few language options, as follows:
US English
UK English
French
Italian
German
Spanish
Mexican Spanish
Brazilian Portuguese, and
Chinese.
Why do you need all of these options? Simply because the Visor mount actually has a voice feedback system that provides you various bits of information. It will announce an incoming call (with the number, it will give you its status (power on, power off, pairing mode, etc).
The design of this device is slick as could be and the voice quality is quite impressive...even while driving about 65+ miles per hour on a highway with the air conditioning running...(yes its been hot in NY/NJ). I made quite a few test calls and specifically asked the party on the other line about noise and quality...they said, and I quote, "You are in a CAR?". The speaker is quite loud and can be adjusted to your liking with a volume rocker panel on the right hand side of the device.
This device works and it works quite perfectly.
Now for the most interesting feature, an FM Transmitter. Current Blackberry models all have the ability to accept micro-sd cards up to about 16gb. You are able to get free software to sync your iTunes libraries to your Blackberry...as long as the content is DRM free. Once the music is on the unit you can play it back through headphones and or Bluetooth devices. The Visor Clip takes this whole process one step further...yes it will play back the content on itself or allow you to press the FM button on the left hand side and select a frequency to tune in on your car stereo. Voila, your blackberry is now broadcasting through your car stereo. This also works for phone calls... AWESOME! Impressed yet...? There is more, when you live in a congested area it is sometimes hard to find a FM frequency that works well with transmitters (we all know they are not great). Simply press and hold the FM button on the Visor and it will scan and announce a free frequency it finds on FM...tune your radio and you are set to go.
Battery Life: I have been using it for 2 days with moderate call volume and some music for testing purposes. It is still working...it does have somewhat of a battery meter on it. But real life usage will vary for everyone and thus you will have to make your own decision about how long it works for you and when it needs a charge. It comes with a car charger..so its not too much of an issue.
This is the best visor clip I have ever used and I am glad I decided to get one. 5/5 for a great product at a great price. My ear has been FREED at last!
Review by PG:
I bought this thing because, well, it sounded cool. I can add the fanciness of having my phone go through the radio without having to tear up my dash like you would for a Parrot, and without having to buy a new car.
Now dont get me wrong....this thing connects to the phone no problem (I am using a blackberry bold) and the internal speaker is suppurb. I would give that alone 5 stars. It is crystal clear, on both ends of the call. And really that is the meat and potatos of this device.
But what made me buy it is the FM modulator utility. I will be honest, when I got this thing Friday and hooked it up I was so excited. And it seemd to work really well. Scrolls the number of the person calling on the radio. Switched to music seamlessly. It was nice. But now its been 3 days of use. And here is what I have noticed:
1) It will drop the FM signal if there is no use happening for 1 minute
2) Because of 1) above, when someone calls you, by the time you hit the FM modulator button and turn the radio to the station, i will bet you that you missed the call. Because that what happened to me everytime. So really it is only good if YOU initiate the call.
3) Signal is inconsistant. Sometimes its cyrstal clear. Sometimes there is so much static it is unusable. I found myself, on an 18 mile drive, constantly searching for a new radio frequency to be clear. I can imagine if you live in a bigger city, this is impossible to do/find.
4) The info announcements via RDS on the radio screen are also inconsistant. Sometimes it would scroll the number across of the person who is dialing. And most of the time it would not.
Maybe there is some trick I am missing. Or maybe a specific sequence of steps i need to do everytime i get in the car for this to work, but until i figure that out, I am not that impressed.
But again, if you ignore the FM problems and just use its built in speaker, this thing is pretty good.

Jabra Cruiser Bluetooth Car Kit, Speakerphone Reviews
Review by John:
I love Bluetooth but was never really satisfied with the audio quality of my Bluetooth headset when driving so I thought I would try buying a device that was specifically designed to let you take calls in a vehicle. This is a really cool product! It does all the basic stuff you would expect in terms of taking phone calls but has the added feature of an FM transmitter so you can use your car speakers instead of the smaller built-in speaker. Now incoming call volume level is never an issue. If your car radio has RDS (I forget what it stands for but if you see artist and song title when listening to a radio station then you have it) you can see the incoming phone number on your radio display. Cooler still is that it supports Bluetooth stereo so I can stream music directly from my phone (or iPod Touch) and listen to it on my car speakers. The Cruiser has convenient PLAY/PAUSE and SKIP Forward/Back buttons too. If you are streaming music and you get an incoming call, the music is automatically paused until you hang up. Last but not least, the Cruiser can be connected to two phones AT THE SAME TIME. This is very convenient since I have to carry around my work phone and personal phone all the time. No longer do I need to decide which of my phones to have connected. Nice work Jabra!
Review by H. Burks:
Saw the reviews here - many are just plain incorrect, very likely they did not bother to read the manual, which as the quickstart guide says 'the full version is online at jabra'.
A few examples:
Voice dialing: If your phone has this capability - you can voice dial no problem: Record the voiceprint for a number (via your phones feature), preferably while using the speakerphone so its better matched, then to use it 'press' - hold button for approx 1sec - (as opposed to tap, which is means 'quick click") the main answer button then say name - works fine, even with an old moto razr phone.
Power: Again, RTM - to save power (a great feature), the speakerphone sleeps after 10 minutes: To wake up, rather than cycle the less handy power switch, simply tap the main answer button
Bright lights: There is a way to go into night mode: "Press FM and volume up button simultaneously when the speakerphone is on. The light will then turn off. You can turn the lights back on with another press."
C'mon folks, take the two minutes to read the actual manual.
As for the rest - I've only had it a little while - the voice quality seems fine, the FM works great when the convertible top is down (Not often right now, even in CA) and the thing works quite well so far.
Bonus: The charger comes in two pieces so that you can use the USB to micro USB cable with your computer to charge it if you want. Conversely, I can now charge my old razr with by plugging in my USB to mini USB into its lighter adapter. Handy.
No affiliation with jabra - just picky about uninformed reviews

Samsung Bluetooth Portable Handsfree Speakerphone (Black) Reviews
Review by J. O'Malley:
I have been ordering this bluetooth for my relatives in Ontario Canada. Actually we have been testing several bluetooths here. Since hands free is new to a lot of people. Ontario will go hands free sometime in October 2009. This bluetooth hooks up quickly and is very clear to hear a person talking. Great little bluetooth and Amazon has the best price for it. Some of the other Bluetooths tested here for quality and price are : Roadmaster VR3, Jabra SP200, Anycom, Movon, one from China BT2000, the Toothpik the Motorola T505 and this Samsung HKT. Our top choices are: Jabra SP200, Movon, Chinese BT2000, Motorola T505 and Samsung HKT. The Movon and one from China have displays. I hope this review helped someone. Thanks and Happy Bluetoothing.
Review by Dan H.:
I bought this bluetooth speaker last February. I rated it one star because it won't let me rate it zero. Within a month, the visor clip was broken, and within two months the unit quit working entirely.
Samsung customer service is a joke. All you get is an endless loop of automated messages. Numerous calls have been attempted, but I have never reached a person who could help, even using Google to find telephone numbers that supposedly "work."
I have used Samsung phones in the past- and my son has one now- but I will never buy another Samsung product after this experience.

BlueAnt S1 Bluetooth Speakerphone Reviews
Review by ScOObydoo:
Let me start with the basics - this car kit is not bad. It isn't great, but I've seen worse. The S1 is about cheaper than the Supertooth 3 (the flagship carkit from Blueant). Sadly, the S1 loses the cool features found on the Supertooth 3 - voice dialing is one of them (the S1 does support a simple "answer" command for picking up calls.
The S1 does all the basics, plus it adds Bluetooth audio. This works, but don't expect it to replace your car stereo any time soon. The A2DP Bluetooth stereo lacks one minor little thing - AVCRP or Bluetooth audio remote. So, even though you can listen to music, you can't control it.
Now on to the big one - when you open the box, you see the S1, its visor clip and an AC charger. That is correct - the brainiacs at Blueant obviously felt that nobody would need a car charger for the car kit in their car.
This means you'll need to spend an additional on a MiniUSB car charger cord. To me, this is an inexcusable flaw, and one that makes it seem like the product was poorly thought through.
Review by Ronald Mendoza:
I have been a long time Jawbone user, but have been trying to convince myself that a Bluetooth Speakerphone would better fit my needs/lifestyle, since I only use the Jawbone in the car anyway.
I finally pulled the trigger on a Jabra SP700, but returned it because it could realistically only be used with one phone. (It has multiple phone history, but will only connect to the most recently paired phone.)
I have friends who are happy with the BlueAnt SuperTooth 3, and since the S1 was newer I decided to give it a try.
Good:
Good overall volume and clarity. Multipoint technology which not only allows it to reconnect to the two most recent devices, it actually reconnects to both simultaneously if in range.
Not so good:
In addition to the standard Bluetooth Headset profile, the S1 also supports A2DP, like the Jabra SP700. The Jabra SP700 also has a FM transmitter, so it can basically act as a speakerphone/music streamer to the car stereo. The S1 does not have a FM transmitter, so music is streamed to its mono speaker. Herein lies my problem; my iPhone 3G will connect to the S1 for phone call duty and will also send music to it, instead of to my car stereo through the direct connect. I have not found a way to disable A2DP support on the S1 (or the iPhone 3G), and I'm checking with BlueAnt to see if they have any ideas. This will probably be a deal killer for me if I can't resolve it.
Also, the visor clip is extremely tight, taking a lot of effort to attach to my visor. The Jabra SP700's clip looked more fragile but clipped on well enough as far as I can tell.

BlueAnt Supertooth Light Bluetooth Speakerphone (Black) Reviews
Review by Peter Mauro:
I buy tons of gadgets and with the exception of a few products, it seems like most fall short of perfect. Not so here. Instead of little disappointments, I go a lot of little surprises that added up to a great experience from unboxing to actual use.
First off, I could actually open the package without getting scissors. When I looked inside, they gave me a bonus "in-car vent mounted cell phone holder". It's actually not cheesy and is something that I will use to park my phone while I make calls.
They also give you a AC and Car charger. Lots of companies like apple make you get this separately so I was happy that it was included.
OK, so all this is great, but how well does it work? I followed the easy directions to pair it with my Treo 680 and 30 seconds later I was making calls. I rang my wife in the car with the AC blasting and the window rolled halfway down to test it. We could hear each other no problem. I asked her if I sounded OK and she had no complaints.
I LOVE how releasing the mic turns the unit on. Brilliant. My only complaint is that the magnet that holds the unit to the visor clip is not as strong as I would like. You have to be a little careful when you press the mic back in or else it will start to rotate off the clip. I haven't been using this too long so we'll see how much of an issue this is.
Review by Noirist:
By and large this product works as advertised. It connects wirelessly to your cell phone via bluetooth. Pairing is easy. The speaker phone is full-duplex so you can actually have a conversation with your counter-party. Battery life on standby is high. Professional reviews are favorable. So why not 5 stars?
The BlueAnt Supertooth Light is flawed. 1. Lacking a screen, there is no effective way to initiate calls from this unit. The Bluetooth implementation on the Garmin nuvi is vastly better in this regard, because it provides easy access to your cell phone's contact list and recent calls. 2. Noise reduction is ineffective. Unless you are stopped, the road and wind noise from your car can make it impossible for your counter-party to understand you. Due to 1 and 2, this handsfree speakerphone is for emergency incoming calls only. 3. The Supertooth attaches magnetically to a metal sunvisor clip. It is easy to install, but also easy to accidentally knock off when you adjust the sun visor. 4. On the Supertooth a blue light flashes when the Supertooth is connected to your cell phone. This is okay during the day since you don't notice it. But at night it is insanely annoying to have a flashing blue light on your sunvisor, prominently in your field of vision. The flashing blue light is so irritating that I keep my Supertooth turned off at night and only turn it on when my phone starts ringing. At that point, its a race between Supertooth start-up/pairing and my cell phone provider's transfer to voice mail. Sometimes the Supertooth wins and I get the call; sometimes it looses and I have to return the call.
Bottom line. The flashing blue light and poor noise cancellation are so annoying that I had decided to return this unit. Then I received an incoming call and I thought that even with all its flaws I'd rather just push a button on my sun visor than fumble with my cell phone while driving. If the Nokia HF-300 were available today, I would return my BlueAnt and try that. But it's not so I guess I'll keep the BlueAnt.
