I have a limited amount of cargo space in my bag. I seriously do not want to waste money and real estate on 15 different gadgets.

Criteria:

PHONE. I want to be heard and to be able to hear. Droid: Brilliantly does this. anyplace anytime, anywhere. I have not had a call dropped or lost, but I have had a little issue with face dialing.

GOOGLE VOICE: Transcribes all my voice mail and sends it to my phone. from the house phone, from the cell phone, all redirects to one location. SWEET. and for the hearing impaired, I can read it and hear it at the same time. it is fairly accurate with people that articulate well, it is hit and miss for people that talk like they have a mouthful of cheerios.

RINGTONES: any song I have on any album I can rip to MP3 and make it a ringtone. a FULL SONG ringtone, not just 20 seconds that repeats. very nice.

CONTACT LIST: I want to manage this on my computer with a NORMAL keyboard and access to GOOGLE, FACEBOOK Photos, and other resources, DROID: Brilliantly does this.

TEXTING: I have to have a NORMAL QWERTY keyboard in landscape mode to type with two thumbs. Droid does this Brilliantly. Each texting conversation is kept in a running dialog with that person. so I know what question was answered when I get a text a day or two later, without wondering what they are talking about because I forgot what I said last. this is BRILLIANT!

CALENDAR:

EACH family member uses google calendar and this is without a doubt the only way that we can maintain our complicated calendar with color coded blocks of time for scheduling. Cub Scouts, Business Meetings, Chess club, Dr Appointments, birthday party's, remove the day planner from my wallet and reduce the weight by a few pounds is WONDERFUL! Everything sync's automatically, instantly giving me a two in one device.

DIGITAL PHOTO ALBUM: this is a squealing delight, the picture quality and size is fantastic, and I am a pro-photographer so I am pretty picky on picture quality. I am very happy to have three in one purpose device.

MP3 Player: with 5 kids, I rarely have a moment alone but yes, I have had time to sneak on the ear phones and listen to a song or two and it was very nice to have my own music instead of whatever white noise is going on around me. that gives me four in one devices.

GPS: when my husband got turn by turn with his blackberry a year ago I was so jealous, but the blackberry device is just vile in my opinion. He has the pearl and I despise the flaky little keyboard. I simply knew that there had to be something out there and I was so tempted to get the separate GPS but who need yet another device? GOOGLE MAPS is fantastic. voice search is sweet, the only drawback is the horrible 'digitized voice and poor pronunciation of words like creek and other simple street names in my neighborhood. overall better than the alternative. Happily I have now five in one devices.

LATITUDES: this is where we add the marzipan to the cake, I NEED to know where my kids are. I am one of those parents that simply need to know. If I could put a chip in their ankles at the vet legally, I would do it. With Latitudes, I can see where they are on the map anywhere without them having to do anything. They only share with me so I know that they are not 'at risk' but when you have a young adult daughter driving 2000 miles cross country alone, it is a frantic feeling when they do not call to check in. Latitudes works locally as well, if your 10 year old takes their phone and goes into an area that is out of the zone, you get an alert. I know without being strapped down to a computer all day, I can leave the house, but not leave my peace of mind. Six in one devices enough?

SHOPPING: yes, I am watching every penny. If I am shopping and it is a 'good deal' I want to know that it is really a good deal. there is a bar code reader, SERIOUSLY. a bar code reader that will search Amazon and give me a price IMMEDIATELY. and I can decide to buy there where I am or with One-Click, order it from Amazon. I have had it on my doorstep the next day after going through this process. THIS IS INVALUABLE. seven in one devices.

CAMERA. ehn not even close. I am way too picky when it comes to picture quality. They definitely dropped the ball on this one. I still have my Lumix DMC-LX3 in my purse and have to painstakingly upload to a computer and then to the blog for this but eventually it will get better. the mpg white balance is way too warm and I was not at all pleased with this. they need to go back to the drawing board and actually get some good optics. Same quality as the Alias 3 megapixel - BIG MINUS on this one.

BONUS:

Weather channel: I have 5 kids in 4 cities, I need to know.

Facebook: always connected, wheee cool. this is a fun and nice little app, not as easy to navigate as a computer, but good enough.

Twitter: fun.

Gmail: Oh definitely invaluable.

Mozilla: reading the newspaper, this is just way way too much fun. I am starting to wonder what I need a family for with all the fun that this has.

Games: Soduku, word search, chess, but seriously, who has time with all the other features like Facebook newsfeed?

a negative: the fail would be no java yet. it is expected in a couple of months so many web pages in the browser do not work since we are a java based experience, I am waiting patiently.

overall I love my droid more than my kids, more than my husband, more than my Nikon D300. It is my full function voice recognition turn by turn GPS, it is my full function mp3 player. it is my fantastic digital photo album, it remembers and keeps a running stream of my text's in a 'chat' format. it is my wifi anywhere I want to go browser / email / facebook / news/ weather / on demand connection. and I hear that it is a pretty nifty phone too.

I should have spent more time on forums before splurging over 0 on the GSM Milestone.

1] A smartphone is, first and foremost, a phone. And this is where Milestone fails miserably. While you can hear callers fine, folks on the other end have a tough time hearing you. Words go missing, speech is garbled, goes up and down in volume... At first, I though the network was to blame, but after trawling Motorola's support forums, it seems to be a common problem. People on their second and even third handsets are still experiencing horrible call quality. I switched SIM cards and tried the phone in different locations, but the problem persists.

2] The camera is useless because of the infamous 28.5 days bug. Have been regularly checking for firmware updates, but nothing so far.

3] Note that the GSM version comes with 8GB microsd, not 16GB like the Verizon Droid. I was not aware of this difference.

4] The unit I got was from the German market. There is no Google Voice Search on it! Apparently the UK version has it, but there seems to be no way to switch ROMs.

5] The phone cannot be rooted currently. While it may not matter to most people, I would love to switch over to other ROMs, especially for Voice Search.

6] No divx/ xvid support. My previous phone was the Omnia HD and the extensive file format support is something I miss on the Milestone.

7] After two weeks of struggling with the keyboard, I gave up. Maybe my fingers are too fat, and your experience might be much better.

Having said all this, the phone is amazing device to hold. Sturdy, industrial build quality, great screen, the slider takes 'manly force' to open up, Android has lot of potential and pretty close to iPhone OS in fluid use (yes, have used an iPhone for over two years)... The Market is good enough and there are lot of free quality software available.

So I would recommend you buy this phone, but with a caveat. Make sure you can return it back easily, if you run into similar problems.

As for me, the Milestone is tucked away in a drawer, waiting for firmware updates that will make it usable again.

I have moved on to the HTC HD2 and am loving that huge screen. Yes, it is Winmo, but fingers crossed - someday hackers will figure out how to put Android on it. And then I should be in phone nirvana.

I bought a pack of 3 screen protectors from Verizon when I got my Droid. When I was on my 3rd from that pack I decided to order these. Each of the ones I put on the phone from verizon had bubbles. I was less than optimistic about these because they were much cheaper. I am pleased to say that I put on one a few days ago and it went on flawlessly. No bubbles at all. You cant even tell that it's there. Another thing I like is that it covers the entire screen including the menu buttons. This was a small problem with the verizon protectors because they stopped at the menu buttons, so when you took off an old one there was a bit of grime to scrub off where the protector stopped and the menu buttons started. If this product holds up then it will deserve 5 stars. I gave it 4 because I've yet to use it for more than a few days. However, due to initial impressions of appearance, ease of application, and price, I give it 4 stars. Recommended.

After scratching my first Droid, I ordered a new one and realized how much I needed to protect the screen. I saw much higher priced products that serve the same purpose, but I went with this one. This goes on easy and protects perfectly. Just follow the directions for application. Pay attention to the tabs that are on each piece to avoid dust getting under the shield. This is all you need and Im glad I got this one.

Stop being bent over at the retail mobile accessory stores. Quite ridiculous if you ask me (though i know you didn't). I've had both items for a few months now, and so far they've both worked just fine. I don't use the car charger very often though, but it has worked for now. The ac charger I got since the charging cord that came with my Droid was way too short, this ac charger has a good long cord so i can plug it in by my bedstand or wherever. I use the ac charger daily, and is working fine.

I bought this phone for my daughter to use during a two week school trip to France. Together with a SIM card purchased from Roam Simple, this was all she needed to receive and make calls while in France. It cost less than renting a phone, and now we own the phone for the next time a family member goes to Europe. The sound quality was as good as if she had been standing in the next room. No problems with signal strength. The phone has no camera so it won't send or receive pix messages, but all in all it was a great solution for us.

These batteries are sold at bargain-basement prices for a reason. Li-ion batteries degenerate with age and begin to lose their ability to fully charge after a year. The ones we received were manufactured 13 months ago, so they will have the same problems as the year-old batteries we'd bought them to replace. If you need a cheap battery fast, fine, but don't count on these as a reliable, long-term solution.

My cell phone (Motorola V325) had started working for only a few minutes per full charge. I ordered this battery to see if a new battery would help. The battery arrived quickly and as soon as I had charged the phone with the new battery, the phone went back to working as it should. I bought a total of 5 (yes five) different Bluetooth speakerphones to test on my car visor and operate with my Sprint HTC Touch phone. Each unit has flaws and two are unusable in my opinion when used with the Sprint Touch. Your results may differ.

Here are the units I tested:

The Jabra SP5050, Parrot Minikit, BlueAnt Supertooth Light, BlueAnt Supertooth II and Motorola T505. I chose these units based on the positive user reviews on the Amazon site.

Now how they perform when paired with my Sprint HTC Touch...

BlueAnt Supertooth Light - Works good with few complaints. Connects automatically every time. Has mini USB for charging which is exactly the same as my phone. OK speaker volume (but the volume may cause an echo on the other end). I like how turning the unit on or off is accomplished by pushing the mic in/out. Magnetic clip is nice.

BlueAnt Supertooth II - Works good but doesn't usually connect automatically with the Touch. I need to push the talk/end button to connect. Best speaker volume (you can turn the volume too high which may cause an echo on the other end). This unit can be used with the visor up or down since the mic can swing totally open. Aesthetics might not appeal to some. I really like how turning the unit on or off is accomplished by swinging the mic in or out. Magnetic clip is nice.

Jabra SP5050 - Maybe the best aesthetics with very slim size. Easy to understand if it's on and connected with the alert tones. Very light unit and did I say how slim it is?

Terrible low volume with my Sprint Touch! The volume is unusable for highway speed driving and is a deal killer compared to the other units. This cannot be corrected using the volume on my phone as it's at max too! I was so hopeful for this unit.

Parrot Minikit - Works great sometimes. Has great speaker volume. Sometimes cannot get it to connect and sometimes locks up. I believe this is an issue with the Minikit and the Touch combination as I also tested a Parrot LS3200 color built in unit with the exact same terrible results. Unusable!

Motorola T505 - Nice aesthetics. Connects automatically every time. Has mini USB power connector exactly the same as my phone. Very good speaker volume and I love the option of using the FM transmitter with my car stereo for even better sound and volume. No complaints from people on the other end and they never heard an echo like the BlueAnt. I haven't tried using the music player but that isn't why I bought it. I prefer the Supertooth II on/off mic switch over the Motorola back of the unit location. This is by far the best unit for use with my Sprint Touch and the one I'll keep using. Works fantastic!

Now I'm giving away the other units to friends.

I recently bought a 2008 Cadillac CTS. It is the best car I have driven to date, but the biggest problem it has is that all vehicles manufactured prior to April 2008 have no bluetooth. This is the first car I have owned without bluetooth installed since the technology first became available. Since I run a business and constantly use the phone in my car, I scrambled to find the perfect device.

Right now the two most popular BT devices are the Blueant Supertooth Light and the Motorola T505. It was a tough choice which way to go but I chose the Motorola because it had FM transmitting capability.

The one thing that is misleading about the pictures depicted of this device on Amazon is its size. I was amazed to see just how small the T505 is. It comes with a very strong clip that secures itself on the visor, and it easily slides on and off whenever you need to remove the T505 for charging purposes.

The included car charger is worthless for most because who wants that cord dangling from the visor? What is visibly absent here is a wall charger. I can't really get upset about this as it does have a USB socket that allows you to plug your device in your computer's USB port for charging.

Pairing was easy. Hold the Power button down for a few seconds (you may have to press PLAY as well) and the T505 goes into pairing mode. My iPhone immediately recognized the device and once you type in 0000 you are instantly paired. No need to pair the phone each time you enter the vehicle.

For best results make sure the bluetooth volume is all the way up on your phone. This will provide the loudest results from the built-in T505 speakerphone.

My first call came today while I was driving. A british voice announced the incoming phone number. I simply pressed the front PLAY button and the call was connected. Speakerphone was crisp and loud. It was pretty incredible as far as the overall voice quality. People sitting in the back seat would have no problem hearing or joining in the conversation. The caller said I sounded great on his end and would never have guessed that I was talking on a speakerphone.

Press the FM locator button on the back of the unit and a British voice will announce a vacant FM channel that is available for you to tune and have your call directed to. Directing the call to FM produced a rather good quality call though slightly fuzzy.

I would not hesitate to recommend this device to anyone looking for the most ideal bluetooth solution for their vehicle. For portable hands-free bluetooth, this is about as good as it gets.

This is an excellent music phone at a nice price.

Pros: Phone works well, unlocked quad band is great if you do not like to be tied to one company or travel abroad.

Music player + radio work nicely. Upgradable memory (microSD is very convenient) and memory is accessible as a disk drive on a computer so you are not tied to proprietary software to upload music.

Cons: Buttons are embedded under screen, take some practice to get used to. Not the best texting phone.

Phone is a bit on the large size - about the size of an iPhone. On the other hand this means there are a wide choice of iPhone cases which will work with this phone.

Phone does all that I wanted (phone+music+radio+quadband) so I am quite satisfied with the phone.

My disappointment is that when connected with wire cable to audio source (laptop, MP3 player etc), the sound breaks off after about 20 min of playing. Silent for a min or two, sound comes back, then breaks off after 10 min. This repeats over and over again. So, if you plan on getting a bluetooth speaker that can also connect with wire to your audio devices that do not have bluetooth, then this is not worth the aggravation. Motorola replaced mine with a new one but it also have this sound breaking off problem. Looks like a design problem. Since I bought it for , not a big loss.

Very small and portable... And very flat, so they're easily pocketable; they're the size of an iPhone (approx).

External controls are very nice. Keep your phone

Sound wise. These speakers are pretty loud. There's no bass to speak of, only a hint at it from the overtones. Treble is very clear, and very loud (over exaggerated), but it works out good when you listen to it from non-sweet spot locations; which for a device like this is PERFECT.

Compareing this speaker to a foxl is a bit unfair (foxl costs twice as much), but listening to them straight on: foxl has more bass and more natural sounding mids and highs. However in real world scenario: picnic, etc. The eq5 actually works out better, as the over exaggerated highs work well with natural high frequency attenuation outdoors and the general inability to listen from the sweet spot. And the extra bass of the foxl is barely audible when listening from a far, so it's not that much of an advantage in the "social" scenario. The SRS-WOW however makes all the difference for stereo separation, where foxl sounds mono from more than 3 ft away, the eq5 actually has a bit of stereo separation. In a scenario where you have the speakers in front of you, the foxl, obviously, blows this thing away. But AGAIN, this scenario is unlikely for such a device, so it's a matter of taste.

I give this 5 stars, this device is simply perfect as a ultra-portable outdoorsy speaker.

I had some old cheap Jensen bluetooth headphones that worked great (I am not a Jensen fan. Had issues with regular headphones from them.) Unfortunately my Jensens broke in a recent move so these looked like a good affordable substitute.

Initially they seemed to be a great solution. Unfortunately that was short lived. While listening to music they would suddenly begin to regularly beep without reason over the music. This was annoying and would happen more and more regularly. I would turn them off and start over. After days of this (yes I put up with it for days) I learned that if I pressed the on of button for a second or two that the beeping would go away with out a reboot. Still annoying but I could get by.

About 1 to 2 weeks later on a business trip, the headphones figured it was a good time to be problematic in a whole new way. (I talk about them as an entity because they seemed possessed.) Now when the beeping started, the volume would increase as if the increase button was stuck, even though I had never touched it because the initial volume was always fine for me. Again, pushing the on button seemed to stop the beeping and then I could lower the volume.

Not to be deterred the headphones went for the jugular. One morning the headphones beeped and the volume disappeared. No matter how many times it was recharged, paired, turned on and off, they never produced sound. That was the final straw. Since I was passing a Best Buy (who sells them), I had them look at it. They could not solve the issue. However, they did have the model up. The MotoROKR S9-HD for .00 (ouch). I still had 6 days on my trip. I figured I buy them and keep the receipt and return them if they act up.

They have worked perfectly for 2-3 weeks now and sound better the these S9s. Perhaps someone has had better luck with the S9 version, but I say spend the extra and get the S9-HD version. I had nothing but issues with my S9 purchase for the entire time that I have had them. They started to work again, but it is too late. I'm looking into getting my money back.

If you have an MP3 capable phone w/Bluetooth and use it to listen to music you have to get one of these S9s. I have an iPhone 3G and use it all the time to listen to music.

Concerning the last review here - I have turned about 8 people on to these (iPhone and Blackberry owners)and unlike the previous reviewer none have had any problems. All have paid less than including shipping.

The manual states that the first charge is for 2 hours not overnight. Manual also states that a purple light is "on call muted". When in doubt "Read the MANUAL! The manual is very detailed but not complicated.

From just sitting back relaxing to cruising on my Harley, cutting the grass, etc..... I was always getting the headphone wires caught on something and to really enjoy my iPhone during physical activities was ridiculous. That is no longer a problem! The S9 works Great! The only thing I would change is the max volume, they're as loud as regular wired headphones but when riding I want a little more volume, above 40MPH you start to lose the music to road & wind sounds, but they're not coming off. I bought an "Altec Lansing" version before I found these and they were nice but much more bulky and couldn't wear them on the bike. These fit great and stay on up past 80 mph. All the bells and whistles, great as a hands free phone as well. My I Phone will pause the music on an inbound call and ring in your left ear, just hit a button on the headset and you're taking the call. These only have sound in the left ear when on the phone but sound great from both ends. All controls are at the ear pieces and are easy to use. Small and light weight they truly allow me to be JAMMIN NO STRINGS!

While I didn't buy it on Amazon, I thought I'd post here, for all to see. Ripped open the package, pressed the on button, sync'd with my phone, made a couple calls using the built in speaker phone. Plenty loud, but was not actualy driving, so it was very quiet in the car. Turned on the car, tuned the radio to the station that the polite slightly British accented voice told me to and made a few calls utilising the car stereo. If you haven't done this yet (with other devices), it is a thrill, you can make the voice as loud as you need to, it's perfectly clear, people can hear you loud and clear. I specifically chose this one because it's made to clip to your visor, so you have the microphone as close as you are going to get to your mouth without wearing a headset, so people don't complain that you sound "far away". Then for the real reason I bought this... I fired up the music on my phone. First a rush, holy cow it works, then disappointment the sound quality was not great, flipped through a couple songs and it was mediocre at best, I was bummed... THEN I got to Annie Lennox CD I had on my phone WOW! great sound, kept listening, got to a few other CD's... Really, really great sound from my factory stereo (Caveat - I'm completely over my "audiophile" days so take what I think of as great sound with a grain of salt). So, the crappy sound was MY music, must have been low bitrate MP3's, all this thing did was point that out to me all too clearly! Then - incoming call interrupts my listening, press the button, works like a charm. After the call, it doesn't automatically restart the tunes, I have to hit play on the media player. Also to make life a little safer in the car, I have the phone cradled in a made to fit my phone (HTC Mogul) cradle by ProClipUSA so the phone is always facing me and just as easy to touch buttons on as my radio. The funny thing is, I'm not a road warrior - 20-30min each way to and from work, maybe 1-2 hours a week travelling during work. Some of you are saying it wasn't truly zero config because I had to pair the bluetooth with my phone, you may be right, but for me zero config is when I don't have to bust out the instructions. Oh the other "Zero config" item I got this week? Creative's wireless X-mod. Again, never cracked the instructions, tore open the boxes and plugged the units in.

This was recommended on a news station where they'd done a review of similar items. I purchased it as a birthday present for my son. A risky thing to do for someone so picky. He loved it! It clips on his visor and somehow comes over his car radio, without wiring. The radio plays and when a call comes through it tells him the number, he pushes the button to answer. I've been looking for a long time to buy Bluetooth stereo headphones for the workouts in the gym - I got tired of having to deal cords that would get tangled up during the workouts or would become a mess in the gym bag. When this model came out I jumped at the opportunity to buy them since they were the first stereo Bluetooth headset with a form factor that is appropriate for wearing in public. (Most of the other ones are too big and just scream "Look at me, I am a dork!") And since I bought them a little over a year ago, I have been extremely satisfied with them - for the most part. Here are a few pros and cons that I have come up with.

Pros:

1. Comfortable enough for a daily workout. Even with my moderately large head, I did not have much of a comfort issue with wearing them every day for a couple of hours. I would not recommend wearing them for more than three hours in a row though. But that would be the case with most headphones anyways.

2. Easy setup. I had no problem connecting them to either my cell phone/mp3 player or my laptop.

3. Decent range. As long as there is an uninterrupted line of sight between the linking device and the headset, you can use them on the other side of a large room or a smaller gym. Comes in handy when working out and don't want anything attached to any part of your body.

4. Decent music playback sound.

5. Decent battery life. For a relatively small device like this one, it was pleasing to find out that it did not have to be recharged more than a couple of times a week with standard use.

6. As a phone earpiece it is useful to have around the head headset because it improves stability a lot. All of my other earpieces fall out of my ears way too easily.

7. Being transferred from the mp3 player to the phone when receiving an incoming call is really useful and cool. This works with iPhone as well.

Cons:

1. It would be really useful if these headphones were collapsible. In that case they could be taken with you in your pocket almost anywhere you go. Plus, it would avoid dangers of having them twisted while stored in your bag.

2. Touch-sensitive controls are too sensitive and very, very small. It took me a while to get used to them.

3. The stereo feature works only for music. When using them for calling, only the left earpiece delivers sound, which is sort of weird. This takes some time to get used to.

4. For some reason, when I linked them to my laptop, they got de-linked with my cell-phone. I had to go through the whole process again to have them back in the desired configuration.

5. When using it with iPhone, the track-skipping buttons don't work.

6. When using it with iPhone, the headphones don't work with all applications. This turned out to be annoying and inconvenient when I tried using them with Skype.

Unfortunately, a few weeks ago one of the touch-sensitive controls broke, and now I can't decrease the volume. This is really annoying because other than that they still work great. I tried sending them back to Motorola, but apparently they don't fix products that are bought through Amazon, EVEN WHEN THEY ARE BRAND NEW! This is extremely annoying to say the least. I decided to buy a new pair, and found another one on Amazon for . (If at the moment all the available ones are more expensive than that, you may want to wait a bit.) Since this price is about 2.5 times cheaper than what you could get in any AT&T store, it seems to me a worth-while investment. I am now on my third pair, but I figured that paying about a year for something that I get to use every day is worth it.

This is my third set of these in about 19 months. If they weren't the most convenient way for me to run with my cell phone and listen to music at the same time without bothersome wires, I would never have purchased the 3rd set. Both of the previous sets still work, but, lost their ability to control music volume....at a level that was just low enough that you could barely hear it. I hope this one lasts longer. Another drawback is not knowing how much charge is in the battery. I typically recharge mine after every third run (approx. 2 1/2 hours of music). Good luck.

I was looking for a decent-sounding bluetooth desktop speaker / speakerphone for my macbook when I use it closed on my desk with monitor, external keyboard etc., and this item seemed perfect, if a little pricey. Unfortunately, the bluetooth connection between the speaker and macbook was faulty: although they pair correctly and the speakers were recognized as "headphones", audio would only stream in one or two second bursts. After a little Googling, I believe the problem lies with Apple and their implementation of the stereo bluetooth protocol in Leopard, so I can't really ding the motorola on that issue. Beyond that, though, the sound from the speakers was just "ok", more suitable for voice than music, and overall the product seemed to be a speakerphone that had been re-marketed as bluetooth music speakers. If that's what you're actually looking for, it's a tight, well-built product and very portable.

I bought this on a whim. My dad's cell phone has a big crack in the screen so I figured I would upgrade him into something new. He's not a big gadget guy so there was no need for features like a camera or bluetooth or even a color screen for that matter.

When I received the box I was a little shocked. First thing I noticed is the manual was in Spanish. This wasn't a big deal to me. I searched the web and found an English manual to download. This could really annoy others expecting a better out of box experience. The next thing that caught me off guard was the default language; it was also Spanish. Again, no biggie because the phone "speaks" to you when you power it up and asks you what language you want to select. Pressing "3" sets the language to English and you're set.

Once powered on you can choose to keep the phone in "Voice Guidance" mode. This is actually a really user-friendly feature. After you push the Menu button (located to the left of the navigation pad) you can navigate through menu items with the pad and the voice tells you what menu item you are on. This totally makes up for the B/W screen and lackluster icons.

Overall this is a great entry-level or emergency phone. The call quality rivals any phone I've used. Volume was loud and clarity was near-perfect.

Pros:

A common complaint relating to this phone is the lack of a graphical interface. The e-paper display limits the phone to alphanumeric characters and a few symbols. The 8 character display is at times inconvenient, particularly for sending text messages and navigating through the phone book.

I find the voice features to more than compensate for its deficient display. The speaker and microphone function superbly. If volume ever becomes problematic, the speakerphone is quite loud.

One of Motorola's marketing points is prolonged battery life (compared to other phones) because of e-paper's low power consumption. I would subjectively rate battery life to be "excellent." The only trouble is the long charging time. On an up note, the charging port is a cylindrical plug, which I have found in my experiences to be more durable than clip-type connectors, which tend to wear and fail over time.

One small annoyance with the phone: from a dead boot (i.e. take the battery out/in and power on)... The phone's clock seems to be completely internal. Unlike other phones which retrieve time from the network, the phone always asks you to input the date and time (which is lengthier than one might like). The phone has a voice-help feature, which audibly dictates menu functions (e.g. "send a message" "read a message" when the corresponding icons appear on screen). This feature can be disabled, but also resets and resumes from a dead boot. Therefore, one should silence the phone rather than turning it off.

Overall, this phone functions hassle-free to make and receive voice calls. Any other features like text messaging and alarm clock are slightly inconvenient to access. Personally, 90% of my mobile phone activity is voice calls. The lack of texting, camera, games, and the like are no bother to me.

The Motofone has better battery life, signal strength, and talking clarity than any other phone I've ever used. It's solid as a rock, and you can smash it, get it wet, let your dog chew on it, it'll be fine. The ringer and the speaker phone can get very loud if you turn them up all the way, which is nice. The e-ink display is like reading printed ink on paper, so you can see it clearly in direct sunlight (there's a light so you can see it in the dark too...). The e-ink display is much more durable and long-lasting than the traditional LCD display, and it uses much less battery power. There is no other mobile phone on the market that has an e-ink display, none that I know of anyway.

This phone has no bells or whistles. It can make phone calls, store phone numbers, and write very limited text messages, and that is it. But, if all you want is a phone, you can't do any better than the motofone.

Phone can make and receive calls as advertised. Ask for more than that from this phone and you'll be disappointed.

After my previous phone was stolen, I saw my cousin had the F3 and decided to give it a try. For .99, what's the worst that could happen?

Two months later I am still using the F3. Phonebook, call log and incoming texts are primitive, but work. I get an error message every time I send a text (Also read here you couldn't use the phonebook to look the recipient's number up)... looks like it is time to read the manual! Many people complained they had to set the clock often; mine is automatically sync'ed off the cell towers which was a pleasant surprise.

I wasn't expecting much from this phone which probably explains my 4-star rating. Only real complaint is the audio quality is not on par with my previous phones. The F3 does not do well in loud environments: the microphone seems to pick up a lot of background noise.

Would make a good backup, say for an iphone, in situations where damage or theft is likely.

I use a Motorola Talkabout T6400 in whats called an "Airsoft Game", much like paintball, but with a military simulation twist. Anyway, communication is a very important thing, thus we all use two-way radios. Holding the radio and carrying it in my hand just was not an option, as I use an airsoft gun that takes up two hands. I bought the T6400 with a clip and all, but needed a headset. I saw many products outthere, some ranging from -100. I was tight on money, so I decided to go with this particular item. After doing some prelimenary tests to adjust my volume and whatnot, I got out in a game. My teammates said they could hear me loud and clear, almost too loud they said, haha. I could hear them perfectly as well. However, the ear piece that hooks onto your earlobe would occasionally fall off, now I have a small ear which was probably the problem.
The VOX feature that I can use on my two-way works pretty well using this headset. It will pick up your voice almost everytime within a tenth of a second, and agian, transmit everything 'loud and clear'. Be careful when whispering those things other people aren't supposed to hear it will pick up EVERYTHING. Whoopsies....I would highly recommened this item for any type of "irregular" use. As far as using it in the car, or however else, I do not think it would be my first choice because of the bulkiness, etc.
The clarity is an A+, the price is an A+, the receiving earpiece gets an A, and the ear piece itself, well a "B" for falling off my ear. Good Luck!

This is an entry level Bluetooth headset, but it performs very well for its price range.

Things of note:

- Battery life is decent

- Great sound quality

- Long range reception

- a little loose on the ear

- Turning it on and off takes some getting used to

- omni-directional microphone

Now the reason I love this headset is actually because its technical limitations (how loose, the lack of noise filtration) actually means I only wear it in the car, office, or home. In venues where there is more noise and/or people, it's deficiencies become glaringly apparent, rendering its use unacceptable in public places.

For me, however, that's a small miracle. I enjoy the benefits of Bluetooth technology without walking around a store talking to myself to the ire of anyone in my immediate vicinity. I needed a hands-free device for work and travel. This fits the bill.

If you are tempted, as I sometimes am, to seek a headset grafted to your ear 24/7, this device offers neither the audio quality, the looks, nor the comfort you are looking for. If you're looking for a basic hands-free device that gets the job done, this is a heck of a bargain.

I bought this headset to replace a Motorola HS820 which fell from my ear to the asphalt and got the speaker broken in two pieces. My review is a bit of a comparison between the two. I give three stars to this headset for the following reasons:

- Compared to the HS820 I have found this headset more uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time. My ear starts feeling sore after an hour or so of wearing it. I never noticed any trouble with the HS820 under the same conditions. Problem is made worse when multiple calls have to be answered or made and this requires pushing the multifunction button.

- Compared to the HS820 I noticed a hissing noise whenever the headset talks to the phone.

- The H350 feels more wobbly on the ear. I guess this probably has to do with weight, but the HS820 had a better attachment to the ear.

Neutral things are that I haven't noticed any difference on bluetooth 2.0 support. I doubt my phone (a Motorola Razr) supports 2.0, but my home computer is supposed too. I don't think it made a difference, but I haven't really tried for range, only for sound quality, which is sometimes less than perfect.

Now, to be fair are the things that are better in the H350 compared to the HS820.

-I can connect and disconnect reliably from the phone using the multifunction button. In the HS820 I usually ended up redialing the last call when trying to disconnect because of what I assumed was a bug in the HS820 dealing with the multifunction button when coming out of "sleep" mode.

-I find the audible signals of the H350 more pleasant than on the HS820.

-The volume buttons are easier to use in my opinion.

I also like that the style matches pretty well that of a black Motorola Razr.

Overall, I would have expected Motorola to have improved more on the design. They just keep dumping new cases on the same guts. At least that's what it seems to me. They have a logic board inside that is pretty much the same for all this family of headsets and they just change a bit of the exterior appearance and a few features.

It have both Motorola's H350 or H500 and both work quite well, fit well on the ear and are not too heavy (like my old Jabra BT800). The problem I have had is when placing them in the Motorola belt pouch (not included but an accessory I like to use rather than keeping the headset in a pocket), both of these headsets will get their call button pressed and make unintended calls. In 2 days, I have made at least 6 unintended calls to 4 different people. I never had this problem with my Jabra BT800.

Not all h700s are the same. Some say they have a range for 33 feet, others 30 feet. I'm not sure why, but I own two. One I purchased at a retail Cingular store for about . It says it's good for 33 feet; the sound quality, both receiving and listening, is very good and I would give it, overall, four stars. But I saw an h700 here for -- same model pictured above -- and bought it as a backup. It's very disappointing and I plan to return it. The sound quality is poor and the battery dies in an hour. I suspect it's defective. It matters to me not whether it has a range of 30 to 33 feet -- on both models, once you are about 15 feet from the cell phone, there's static. But I suspect that while the models are the same, the one that's good for 33 feet may be newer and improved. So keep that in mind in checking these out.

After years of using wired headsets, I decided to upgrade to a Bluetooth compatible phone. Synching the phone and headset were a breeze. Also, the headset has amazing range. I own and have sitting in a box somewhere a Samsung WEP 500, Aliph JawBone, Plantronics Voyager 510, Plantronics Discovery 665, Jabra BT500, the older Motorola HS850, and some Sony Ericsson model that I don't even remember. Crazy, I know. Also I have tried the Apple bluetooth headset (I have an iPhone), the Motorola H9 mini bluetooth, the Motorola slider H800, and the latest MOTOPURE H12 from Motorola. All of these have fit and/or form and/or feature and/or function issues that drive me nuts. The only one I ever use, and my favorite by far, is this Motorola H710 !!

Ever been frustrated because the volume of your headset was too low on even the highest setting, so you had to shove it deeper into your ear (defeats the purpose of 'hands free', I know) ?? Not with this sucker. This is the first headset that is actually *too loud* on the highest volume, so I keep it midway!! Wow. With all the others the first thing I would do is max the volume and never touch it again.

Ever gotten tired of holding down a tiny button for five whole seconds to turn your headset off and on? Join the rest of us. With this, you flip the voice boom open and it's on in 2 seconds; flip the boom closed and it's off just as fast. Brilliant. So easy. Have other companies seen this at all, I wonder? Can I sell this idea to Plantronics and Samsung?

Sick of gimmicky poor-fitting little custom eargels designed for f***ing Shrek or some other ear mutant? Yup, me too. Bypass completely with Motorola H710, and also skip the gnarly plugged-ear sensation before you step out in front of a semi truck coming at you from your headset side because you couldn't hear it.

How about accidental calls? Did the bastards who designed the Samsung WEP500 ever even ONCE try putting that thing in their pocket? Is it some sort of unfunny practical joke? I've owned a number of bluetooth headsets (Jawbone, BlueAnt x3micro) , including the H710's predecessor, the H700. For me, comfort is the most important feature. Both of the Motorola headsets are among the most comfortable headsets that I have owned or tried. They could be worn for hours without a hitch. Voice quality is a close second to comfort, and the H710 doesn't disappoint. I believe voice quality goes hand-in-hand with fit; because the other headsets that I mentioned were "in-the-ear" types, if you cannot get them to fit exactly, their sound quickly deteriorates. This is not the case with the H710, which sits "over-the-ear". The earloop is barely noticable.

I knocked off a star for two reasons: (1) neither myself nor the party I was speaking with while using the headset could tell their was any realistic noise cancellation occurring, even though it was supposedly "improved" from that of the H700; and (2) Motorola changed the charger connector! The H700 has a mini-USB connector. I had a bunch of those mini-USB chargers laying around . . in my car, my office, at home. Well, time to toss them because the H710 uses an all together different micro-USB connector.

In my lifetime of cell phones and accessories, I have used almost every type of Bluetooth headset. Without a doubt there two that stand out in my mind and my ear that rank as the most comfortable to wear, the most efficient to use, and the MOST DEPENDABLE. One is a "trucker's model" over-the-head headset with a full boom mic and noise-canceling, needless to say this is the one I use in a high-noise area either inside or outside. It is the one that people on the other end like the most also for the noise canceling effect.

The other Bluetooth headset is the Motorola H710. My hearing is very good and this is the first over-the-ear earpiece that I can NOT turn up all the way, it is not necessary. The unit is comfortable to wear for long periods of time, stays charged forever it seems, has good sound, a very efficient short boom mic, great noise canceling, easy to operate, and easy to maintain. In short, it is the perfect earpiece. When I find a product that I like and it works well for me, I have a tendency to buy some for gifts for others. I think that so far I have purchased about ten.

This is my first bluetooth headset...

I have been using it with my LG dare and it works great with this phone.no probs pairing the device, was quick and simple.

The signal and clarity are great most of the time. a few times while driving,I have had a few staticy(is that a word?)moments in some areas.(might be signal interference from outside sources)Other than that I have an awesome signal and people that I talk to can't tell that I'm using it,or at least they never say that it sounds bad.It seems to knock out most background noise pretty well,I have talked in some loud areas and the person on the other end can hear me just fine.

Talk time seems to be good. I don't spend a lot of time talking on it but a fair amount and I can go a week or so and then it needs a charge.

As far as distance from my phone: I can leave my phone on the table and walk 15 to 20 feet away and still have a good signal. any further than that and it starts to break up a bit.

Overall I believe this is on of the best out there for the price.I did a ton of research on bluetooth headsets and this unit kept coming up as one of the best bang for the buck.

I've like Motorola H700 headsets for some time, so thought this would be a good upgrade. Haven't noticed much difference in speaking/hearing yet, but right away noticed its a different charger than the H700. The Motorola HS850 is the company's update to their HS810 headset, one of my personal favorites. The changes made to produce the new HS850 are few, but the effect is relatively substantial. But first, let's start with what is the same. Like the HS810, the HS850 makes use of a body design that employs a folding microphone boom. The folding microphone boom acts as the on and off switch, as well as just providing a convenient way to make the headset smaller and more pocketable when not in use. When a call comes into your phone, you can turn on and answer the phone at the same time just by unfolding the microphone boom. You can end the call and turn it off by removing the headset and re-folding it. Using the headset in this way conserves battery power, since no battery juice is wasted on standby time - time where the headset sits around waiting to be contacted by a mobile phone or other compatible device. The physical design of the HS850 and the battery savings it imparts is my favorite aspect of the Motorola HS850. Of course you don't have to remove and turn off the headset between calls. If the headset is already on when an inbound call comes, you will hear the ringing come through on the headset and can answer it by

Awesome sound quality, battery life, and range.

I can leave my phone in my bedroom, and still make and receive calls on this headset twenty-five - thirty feet away IN MY LIVING ROOM!! Amazing.

Pairing was as snap on a Motorola V80, and my PC, but other phones may be different.

The only drawback I find, as I did on the HS820 review, is that my phone reverts to a default ring for both voice & messages, so the cool MP3 ringtones are useless when using the headset

Ear fit is on par with the HS820 as well. It flaps around your ear sometimes and it feels like it's going to fall off, but it doesn't, and it also fits well when wearing sunglasses.

The battery life is unprecedented. Probably the best on the market as of this writing.

Audio quality:

The sound quality is unequaled. The party on the other end of the line will never know you're on a headset, calls are clear and they sound like a wired phone/headset. The caveat is that in windy conditions, it will be impossible to use, but so will be a wired headset, so there's no way around that situation.

The headset functions w/o any issues almost all the time, except in a couple of instances when, if the phone is answered first, and the headset is turned on afterwards, I've encountered a very loud static noise, which would go away when folding the boom and extending again thereby turning off and back on.

A couple of times I've lost calls and had to revert back to using the phone, but that may have been due to external RF since it only happened twice in a three week period.

Fit and finish:

Motorola has a winner here. The look is stylish, and fit and finish is first class.

Size:

This unit is bigger (longer) than the HS820, since it incorporates a boom, which, when extended, increases the overall lenght to 3.3 inches long, making it more noticeable then other integrated units. It also feels slightly heavier, but not by much.

To it's credit, the boom doubles as a on/off switch, making it a no brainer figuring out the unit's state: folded=off and extended=on

Accessories included:

I was surprised that the U.S. version does not come with the leather carry holster and lanyard like the European version does.

Tried to shop for an replacement Motorola holster online and THERE AREN'T ANY, not even replacements for the HS810 which does include the holster.

Also, the U.S charger is noticeably larger then it's European counterpart (Hello Moto, anyone home?).

A USB charger would also have been nicer than a regular AC adapter, specially when traveling, since all one would have to do is plug into a laptop if the battery is running low.

I just picked up my first bluetooth phone, and was looking forward to a wireless headset. My last headset was an [...], which gave exceptional noise isolation, and very clear reception and transmission, even in the noisiest of environments. It was just a hassle to leave the wire hanging, and wasn't easy to get it hooked up from scratch for a call, so I wound up using it a lot only in the car or on long calls. But its exceptional performance left me with high expectations.

I started with a Sony HSH660 (which I reviewed) but it rubbed on the back of my ear and left it hurting. It picked up ambient noises in a noisy environment on its mic and created lots of static on the other end, though I could hear very clearly. So I was looking for better fit and clarity in transmission.

The Motorola is lighter, and its thin earpiece fit in a way that was immediately comfortable in a way the Sony wasn't. BUT, the HS850 feels vaguely set on my ear, wobbling back and forth on my ear. In contrast, the Sony felt rock solid. The Motorola never actually fell or moved off my ear, it just felt flimsy. The narrow earpiece that made it less painful made it feel less secure. Still, I think that'd be easier to get used to than an earpiece that hurt.

I went out to a mall and checked out the reception. The ambient noise would show up the quality quickly. Here, the Motorola's mic screened out the ambient noise better, but the people I called said that while there wasn't much background noise, it sounded like I was on a speakerphone. The boom is certainly too short to allow better positioning and noise isolation like the ety. But while the Motorola's transmission was better than the Sony, I had more trouble hearing the Motorola. The Sony earphone seemed much clearer, less prone to static or noise than the Motorola. This certainly surprised me. Rather than a clear winner, it was a trade-off. The verdict is about the same in quiet environments, though it is a little easier to hear on both ends.

The Motorola folded up neatly, and the black unit looks sharp. The blue light that is on when the headset is in use is a nice touch. The unit was easy to set up with my phone, and the swinging boom turns the unit on and off. When a phone call is received, it took no time to open the boom, and by the time I got the headphone on my ear, I could press the on button and receive the call seamlessly. I haven't had a chance to test out the 8 hrs talk time, but others tell me that's accurate. It folds up more compactly than the Sony.

So here's my summary:

Motorola may have evolved the perfect set of operation instructions coupled to simple feedback sounds and lights with the H500. Plus the 3 buttons are easy to operate because they are large enough and in convenient locations though they could benefit from being less smooth/easier to feel with some tactile bumps. I also had the latest Logitech "Mobile Traveller" headset to compare to which had confusingly complicated feedback sounds and light patterns and difficult buttons and fewer functions (no hold). I paired the headsets to a Motorola Razr V3 for testing.

-----The wind-cancelling technology and greater volume capability were the only advantages missing from the H500. Under noisy conditions such as in a car or crowd of people, the H500 could benefit from greater volume capability so that you can hear better.

-----I tested the headsets by calling a credit card voice response system for uniform responses. With the slightest bit of wind noise from a fan, the H500 mike cannot pick up your voice at all while the Logitech had no problem. It may be that the H500 mike is so extremely sensitive it gets overloaded by noise and wind and this limits pickup in those conditions.

-----I tested voice quality by recording on the phone's voice recorder and by calling my answering machine, then listening to the results. The H500 seems to provide the whole audio range where the Logitech seems focussed more toward the high end. This means that if you have a deep male voice it sounds more natural from the H500, but you will be more understandable and less muffled sounding from the Logitech which gives your voice a thinner and higher sounding quality.

-----The H500 is not as secure on my ear (which is of the sticking out variety), but it won't come off even if you shake your head upside down. Plus, this makes it very comfortable (you forget you're wearing it) and easy to hook it on and off with one hand. I could not put on the Logitech without 2 hands (and a mirror) and a lot of rotation adjustments and then after wearing it for a while, it would slowly start to pinch and hurt.

-----The construction of the H500 is all quality plastic and soft rubber against the ear instead of cheap foam covering which cruds up and shreds.

-----The electronic range is fantastic and I believe this strong signal connection is important if any interference factors are nearby. I am able to hear people quite clearly at distances away from the phone where they stated my voice is completely lost. In listening to recordings, it does seem that the H500 adds some electronic noise (like static or popping) compared to talking on the phone directly.

-----The headset's ringing tune is "Flight of the Valkyries" by Wagner, which I think is cool. The Razr phone itself reverts to a simple call alert sound when a headset is connected.

I have a Motorola e815, and was using a Motorola hs850 headset (see my review). That headset was compact and easy to use, but felt very wobbly, and the sound quality (especially receiving volume) left something to be desired. I got the h500, and I really love it!

First, it's volume is much better than my previous headset. When the environment is noisy, I can hear my call! The transmitter is about the same quality-not as good as a wired unit, but good enough to be heard on the other end. A big plus here is that when the phone rings, there is a tone in the headset when it's one also. The HS850 didn't have one, and if you miss the ringtone, you miss the call. This backup tone has alerted me several times before I was aware of the phone itself.

Second, the earpiece is better designed and more comfortable. It has a small notch that fits over the front curve of your ear, that aligns the mic on your ear. The earpiece, while thin, doesn't feel as flimsy as my previous Motorola, which always felt like it was ready to flop around at the slightest motion. While it's not rock solid, it feels much more secure.

Third, it has a mute feature, handy for those times when you need it.

Finally, the finish is great. The on/off button is surrounded by chrome, and the plastic body looks metallic. The finish exudes quality. Pairing this unit was ultra simple. I don't have talk/wait times yet, but I love this headset. It would be perfect if it had a battery indicator or caller ID feature. It's a keeper.

I purchased this unit to use with my motorola V3 Razr cell phone so that I could talk hands-free with people while I did things around the house. It replaced my previous headset, a motorola HS810, which I let get exposed to water (whoops).

Despite the higher price tag on the HS810, I feel this is a better headset. It's very sturdy-I've dropped it on my hardwood floor and it still works just fine. There is no unfolding boom mike with a hinge that wears out. The controls are simple-hold down the call button to turn it on or off, tap it to answer or hang up. Mating the device to my phone was simple and took seconds, and I haven't had it drop a call yet. The microphone seems to work very well-I've never had anyone complain that they couldn't hear me, and I've used the unit outside in windy conditions.

Of course, there are some negatives. I wish the volume was louder-I have it turned up all the way and it still sounds a little faint. The earpeice is tight and secure but it also pinches, so long calls are going to be uncomfortable. It's also not as eye-catching as some other bluetooth headsets.

If you want a workhorse headset that's dependble, reliable, and sturdy, this is the unit for you. It's a great value for the price.

No matter which manufacturer or what model, it has become impossible to get a positive opinion on a Bluetooth headset these days!

Everybody just keeps whining about range (read up on Bluetooth technology, will ya?!), crackle, low volume and disconnects.

I'm glad I took the user reviews for the H500 with a grain of salt, overcame my fear and got this headset for my Nokia 6230i.

Pairing was a cinch. In over two weeks of use, I have yet to experience a disconnect. Volume and clarity are pretty darn good, range is excellent (for Bluetooth) and battery life is AMAZING (4 days to a charge, on average, with fairly extensive use). I have tested this headset while on foot outside and while driving my car. No problemo.

My suggestion to the nitpickers complaining about these headsets: state the make and model of your mobile phone in your reviews. It could very well be that it is your mobile phone that's to blame for your poor experiences. Specifying the type of phone you use will enable potential buyers with the same phone to steer clear, while the rest of us can go ahead and enjoy the wonders of 21st century technology.

By the way, I am technologically savvy, have had bluetooth headsets for over a year now and, if you haven't guessed it yet, am very, VERY happy with the Motorola H500.

Highly recommended.

Range is good, comfort is adequate, and it is fairly easy to use. The price of bluetooth devices has gone down dramatically that I was able to justify buying one:) The H500 works fine with our LG Shine. Although you may need to talk a little louder so that the other person can clearly understand you (Well, not too bad really).

It was an easy setup. The device itself looks fine, not too dorky in my opinion. It also has a nice blue LED light. Available in many colors of choice.

Why 3 stars? The volume control is hardly palpable. It is hard to adjust the volume while in use. Your fingers may tend to slipped while trying to adjust. Even the call button is difficult to press.

I like the ear hook can be flipped to be used either on your left or right ear. It is also not too heavy to be worn comfortable on your ear.

I live by a cellphone. I am a security officer and drive a patrol cart. Having a cellphone up to your ear is not acceptable at post. All officers are allowed to wear bluetooths. I had the exact same model about 3 years ago and fell in love with it. I have very small ears and any bluetooth that goes in my ear hurts because it pushes on the walls of my ear and leaves bruises. I was very limited with my usage. This bluetooth lays against your ear and has a nice speaker. It is very light weight making it a pleasure to wear. The best feature (other than not being in my ear) is the discreet mode. You can turn off the blue light when calls come in so that no one knows you are on a call. (other than the fact that you look like you are talking to yourself). I have had 4 different bluetooths through a 4 year period and of them only the Motorola has done a great job. I have had a Sony Ericcson, Plantronics, and a Jabra.

This bluetooth is much more comfortable resting on the ear. Easy to make calls and receive calls. Volume buttons allow for a lot of leeway in the setting. Still working on getting the voice dial to work without disconnecting the call, but I kept the short information sheet provided with it. (I am sure it is the operator and not the unit itself). I am very pleased with my purchase. It has a longer talk time than my previous BT, much more comfortable and paired easily with my LG phone. And, I love the pink color!

I am still not sure if I am going to keep it or buy another kind. I liked it since it matches my phone perfectly.

When I call people they always have trouble hearing me and I can't always get the volume high enough to easily hear them either. If you hit any breeze at all while outside you just can't use it, I was walking backwards just to cut the breeze and it wasn't a strong wind.

What frustrates me the most is that it's kind of a pain to turn off, making it hard to switch back to my cell if I don't want to use it. I like the range it has to the phone. I can leave my phone in the dining room and answer a call from the kitchen and talk easily hands free while cooking or cleaning up.

It's very comfortable on my ear.

I purchased this Motorola H500 Bluetooth Headset when I upgraded my phone to a BlackBerry Curve 8530. I love this little headset! It was really easy to set up and paired with my BlacBerry on the first try and it has given me no problems since.

It is relatively comfortable to wear as it doesn't actually go into the ear. I have very small ear canals and have been unable to use most earbuds so this is a great product for me. I thought it would be uncomfortable to wear but it has been really easy to get used to and isn't heavy or bulky at all. I still have a little trouble with it slipping once in a while, but I think that is due to user error and not a problem with the product.

I would like to say that Amazon's "frustration free packaging" is wonderful. I liked the fact that I didn't have to get out my knife to get into the product and the amount of packaging was minimal. Keep up the good work with that packaging.

Overall, this is a great product. The price was very reasonable and it comes in a variety of colors. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a reliable, easy to use headset.

H500 is easy to use and isn't expensive. Only four stars because it disconnects from my Blackberry as I try to make a call sometimes. Better to make a call first and then connect, or try re-syncing the device to your phone if you've made any recent phone OS upgrades.

Bluetooth cell phone headsets are really a subjective choice... period.

Some love them and others hate them, and some models seem to fit one person's ear (and lifestyle) better than another. That being said, this reviewer will try to offer an (overdue) opinion on what has turned out to be a pretty good choice in a well-made Bluetooth cell phone headset.

When I first looked at the Motorola H500, it's price tag was in the 0 range, so it was easy to pass on in favor of wired headsets. But with the recent price drops, this unit is not only worth considering, it's now even lower priced than some of the better wired units that were former favorites. Considering that so many states and localities have laws against cell phone use while driving, this can be an excellent communication tool if used carefully and safely.

There are many brands and model out there to choose from, but the Motorola H500 is well worth consideration, especially in light of its excellent pricing. Once adjusted and positioned correctly to the ear, its overall sound quality has turned out to be excellent. Had held off on making a decision between brands and models mostly because I wear glasses, but after a bit of retail store test driving for fit and sound, found (like other reviewers) that this headset seems to settle easily to my ear and just seems to fit properly.

One way of looking at how well a Bluetooth cell phone headset functions would perhaps be to rate its use during everyday tasks or activities, so here are a few of those, along with my personal findings.

- Driving: excellent, quite functional, 5-stars.

- Walking: excellent, 5-stars.

- Cycling: excellent, low wind noise, 5-stars.

- Running: OK, 4-stars (felt like it might fall off).

- Computing: excellent, 5-stars.

- Sleeping: decent, 4-stars... hey, just joking here!

Don't want to go on a rant about driving while using a cell phone, but if you take the time to read your phone's manual along with the one for the Motorola H500, you'll find that you can use it with voice activated functions, so that you don't need to fool with cell phone dialing when driving. Just program your phone, say your party's name into the Bluetooth device and you'll be automatically connected.

Is this Motorola headset the newest, latest and greatest? Nope. If you want that, check out the new Jawbone II Bluetooth Headset by Aliph, but then check out the price on that unit and compare the features.

Summary:

The Motorola H500 is an inexpensive Bluetooth cell phone headsets, offering good sound quality, nice ergonomics, and better-than-average range. It's an excellent communication device, adding to driving safety if used carefully. If you're looking for a good Bluetooth headset at a reasonable price, it's well worth considering, whichever color you pick.

For those who privately asked, my H500 didn't come in a box. It came in a ziplock-style bag that was marked "bulk" on the label. It contained the H500 headset, AC charger, user guides and a "Motomanual." From all appearances it was brand new.

I've always been an earbuds-type person. Treasure hunters using metal detectors are usually seen wearing heavy, ear-enclosing headphones regardless of where they are hunting for treasure. I'm considered a rebel of sorts by some of these hunters because I've always worn earbuds, even at the noisy beach. Because of comfort and safety. Regular headphones isolate you from your surroundings and this is not always safe, especially in isolated areas of public parks where crime is sometimes rampant. So I strictly use earbuds and I'm always comparing brands whenever possible.

The above having been said, I use the earbuds under question and let me tell you these are the best earbuds I've ever used to listen to music especially on my PC. The first time I used them I didn't think that they were going to be better to the iPod earbuds that I used before I got the Creative brand earbuds which turned out to be superior to the iPod earbuds except they didn't really produce decent bass. And neither did the iPod earbuds but they sounded a little more balanced. So I sometimes switched between the two except that the Creative ones are a little difficult to insert in your ears and they have a habit of popping out. But they sound really hi-fi!

Then I found, that's right: found!, a pair of these earbuds and like I said didn't expect more than the iPods or Creatives. But lo and behold, they are fantastic! They are more efficient (more volume), they provide superior bass and do not lack in the mids and highs. Truly earbud nirvana! I do wonder how they would stack up against the expensive brands which to me look like a ripoff.

Spend the few dollars for these earbuds. You may not use them for a Blackberry so the on/off switch is immaterail. But if you appreciate good sounds, you'll appreciate these little wonders. I'm getting a couple more to guarantee that if anything happens to my present ones I won't have to try to find them, let alone at these ridiculous low prices.

I like the Blackberry Headset - it sounds great, the volume is good and it's pretty durable. I replaced my original because it got caught in a seatbelt and when I exited my car it destroyed the cord at the jack. Frayed copper wires are pretty.

Anyway - down sides: The earpieces are a little huge... also, the foam pads get lost in a matter of minutes (ok because they're smaller without them).

The mic on the headset is WAAAY better than the Curve internal mic - I know because people often ask me if I got a new phone when I use the headset - they say it sounds much warmer and clearer.

at a high volume the left head phone has a slight buzz. the button on the cable works to pause/play songs on my ipod touch 2g even when the screens off or if i'm in another app. the button can also momentarily be held to redial the last number and held for a little longer to bring up the voice command menu, might be diff. on ur phone. the mic is fine, my g/f can't tell a diff. between it and the mic on my LG chocolate 3. I can also use the mic to record with my ipod, even from across a room. so it wuld be suitable for lectures/meetings. the mic is light enough that it won't work the ear pieces out while jogging. they're comfortable. i have average size ears and it's tough to get these out with a downward motion, which is annoying with some other headphones, when i'm doin stuff n something snags the cord causing me to have to, god forbid, use my hands.

it works great, but the little rubber ear things already came off in less than a month. both of them! i had to find those little foam things from another set that i luckily had an extra pair of to cover it up so i could still use them.
